Environmental Technology Department

The Environmental Technologies Department was established in 2008 to be the second department in the Environmental Research Center, and its tasks and objectives are inseparable from those of the Center through:

1. Contributing to the study and research of environmental problems of a local, regional and global nature through applied scientific studies and research.

2. Preparing specialized and qualified research and professional cadres to meet the needs of environmental work.

3. Community service.

4. Working to develop and sustain resources.

5. Prepare appropriate mechanisms to measure environmental pollutants and their levels in accordance with international standards.

6. Building partnerships with various institutions concerned with scientific research.

Tasks of the Environmental Technologies Department

1. Trying to acquire modern environmental technologies and introducing them into application in environmental work.

2. Building policies and strategies that serve scientific research and are consistent with the general trend in Iraq.

3. Trying to build a gene bank for rare and endangered plants and animals in the Iraqi environment.

4. Preparing maps of biological diversity in the city of Baghdad and in Iraq.

5. Preparing radiation maps for the city of Baghdad and for all of Iraq.

6. Producing strains of plants that are resistant to extreme environmental conditions through selection or gene engineering.

7. Building various databases by implementing descriptive and questionnaire studies on various topics.
