Tobacco breaks hearts

31 May its global day for tobacco control cited by WHO Every year, tobacco use and second-hand smoke exposure kills more than 7 million people. Around 3 million of these deaths are from heart attacks and stroke. 

On World No Tobacco Day 31 May 2018, WHO has joined with the World Heart Federation to highlight the strong link between tobacco and cardiovascular disease. Most people know that using tobacco causes cancer and lung disease but are unaware that tobacco is also a major cause of heart disease and stroke

It's never too late to quit smoking. Within 20 minutes, your heart rate and blood pressure drop. After 1 year of quitting smoking, your risk of coronary heart disease is about half that of a smoker's. After 15 years, the risk of coronary heart disease is that of a nonsmoker's.
